Horrendous Flooding

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I’ve just been watching the news and the floods in the UK are horrific. This is something I worry about living so close to the sea. I am actually in an area prone to flooding. I am on the 2nd floor so it shouldnt affect me too bad. Although some nights when it is really chucking it down with rain, I imagine I am gonna look out the window in the morning and see dolphins swimming around the flat.

Think I will keep our inflatable boat upstairs here for emergency.

Things to do this Summer

Tuesday, June 19th, 2007

What is the deal with this poxy weather. I have all these new toys but am unable to use then due to crap weather. We have been out in the inflatable kayak only once since we bought it. Been out on the roller blades only once. My windsurfing lessons have ground to a halt. Summer will be over before I know it and I wont have acheived anything. So to help me reach my targets I have made a “things to do this summer” list.

  1. Be proficient at windsurfing.
  2. Try kite surfing.
  3. Learn to stop effectively on my roller blades and not run over dogs.
  4. Reach my target weight of 55 kgs and maintain it.
  5. Catch the ferry to Cherbourg and cycle around Normandy for a weekend.
  6. Sail and cycle around Croatia.
  7. Finish renovating my flat.
  8. Use the kayak at least 5 times.
  9. Go snorkeling and try out my new wetsuit.
  10. Catch a fish and eat it.

Blogslack

Monday, June 18th, 2007

I’ve been a bit blogslack lately. Not much has been happening. I am down to 60.5kg which is great,I just need to keep it that way. I fell off the wagon big time over the weekend, drinking 2.5 bottles of wine and 3 beers. I am really sick of my detoxinabox diet. All the food is now tasting the same and I seem to be constantly hungry so am sneaking in extra meals. The weather has turned to crap, so I havent been doing anything interesting. Mikes daughter cooked us dinner last night cos it was fathers day here.

I have a big weekends work coming up on Saturday so this week will be pretty busy.

Motorbikes and Rollerblades

Monday, June 11th, 2007

We went up to London on Saturday to get my motorbike which has been sitting in the Baribcan carpark for the last couple of years. Luckily it was still there.

We did a diversion to our favourite shop in London, which has everthing you could ever want. We bought some roller blades, some fishing rods, some snorkeling gear, a swiss ball, some metal water bottles for our bikes and some bright cycling shirts.

We were up at 7.30am Sunday morning, eager to give the rollerblades a go before it got too busy down the waterfront. It was fun, tho a little wobbly. And I have no idea how to stop in them. It was Mikes first time on them and I think he quite enjoyed it tho he’s not sure.

After our rollerblading, we jumped on our bikes and rode over to Swanage. Lots of steep hills and we were buggered by the time we got there. So we decided to catch the ferry back to Poole. This is a lovely scenic trip past chalk hill cliffs with caves and the Old Harry Rocks.

I think I wanna buy a boat now.

25 Degrees and Sunny

Monday, June 4th, 2007

We had a wonderful weekend here, 25 degrees both days. We brought our spare bikes over from Mikes place for my friends and we did a few cycle rides on the weekend which was really nice.

Apart from getting totally trashed on saturday night, i have stuck pretty well to my diet. I have lost a kilo in two weeks. I hope to be down to around 60kg after the next two weeks. Still feel like there is a long way to go though. It was bad of me letting myself get so overweight.

I’m not feeling particularly verbose today so that is it for now.

New Zealand and  Hong Kong photos are available for viewing via the Photos link at the top of the page.

Its an absolutely miserable day today. wet cold and windy. There aint no way I am leaving the house today.

detoxinabox

Friday, May 18th, 2007

I am starting yet another diet tomorrow. This time I am going through a company called detoxinabox. Their food is free of wheat, dairy, red meat and additives. It’s middle eastern type food and is apparently quite tasty. They deliver the food and it covers breakfast, lunch and dinner. So I am gonna trial it for 30 days and see how I go.
